Our year living together and further times together were great fun and definitely eye opening. We shared a love of football and (at the time) Martin O’Neill. 


I always enjoyed chats about our beloved Leicester and Villa, although we rarely agreed on the quality of some of the big names. Our debate over Emile Heskey never was resolved, although I later admitted that I was wrong about Olof Mellberg.


Hours passed playing Pro Evo and many laughs at your expense with my “he’s only running in a straight line!” Tactic, particularly infuriating for you. Although it was great time spent together and we shared a lot in that tiny room together. Including the first time you told us that Theo was on the way. I will never forget that moment and we all knew that he meant the world to you.


I will always regret not keeping in touch with you as much as I should but we both know we were as bad as each other for that. You’ll be missed mate.
